In our survey, 53% cited price as a concern, but for those experiencing high frustration (7/10 or higher), 83% said they’d pay £400–£500 for a solution that actually works. They’re not price-sensitive, they’re quality-sensitive.

They’ve been let down before by overpromising, underdelivering products. They’re not looking for the cheapest option. They want something they can trust.

Our survey found that the most commonly used devices outdoors are:

• Phone: 94% of respondents

• Speaker: 34%

• Light: 31%

• Single Power Banks: 28%

→ Average : 2.4 devices. But frustration isn’t about quantity, it’s about fit. Devices simply aren’t made for the reality of outdoor life.

Among campers/fishers (average of 3.6 devices) 42% still reported high frustration. Why? Because even when they invest in gear to meet different needs (comfort, entertainment, practicality), it fails on basics like battery life for multi-day trips, bulk, or durability.

The issue isn’t “too much tech.” It’s tech that’s not designed for their world.

Insight: Build equipment that’s actually built for the outdoors: simple, tough, and ready to go and last as long as they can outdoors. 

Our MVP focuses on what respondents in our survey shared as the root causes of frustration:

• Battery/Charging (49% of respondents): checking charge, devices dying mid-trip or running back to the car to charge devices. 
• Bulk/Transport (37%): Too many bits, too little space. Users want to carry less.
• Durability/Complexity (6%): Fragile or fiddly devices aren’t built for mud, rain, or getting chucked in the back of the van.
• Multi-Function: 41% appreciate products that can do multiple things.

Insight: By prioritising core features, compact design and innovations that nod to entertainment (phone holder, speaker, solar power panel), we give users back control, comfort, and time. This isn’t just a product, it’s a smarter way to gear up.

Camping isn’t a trend, it’s a change in lifestyle. Post-COVID, 7.2 million households camped for the first time in 2022 alone.
